Tampa airport hotels for a cruise

A hotel by Tampa International Airport (TPA) suits a flight that lands the evening before you sail, or a night before an early flight home. The port calls the airport a 15-minute drive from the Channelside District. Our routes from these hotels to the nearest terminal building take 12 to 17 minutes without traffic.

The table compares the 10 airport hotels we could check on their own websites, closest to the airport first. Two are at the airport itself: the Tampa Airport Marriott, inside the main terminal, and the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay, on the water west of it. Which airport hotel is closest to the cruise port?

Four Westshore hotels are 12 minutes from Terminals 2 and 3 by car: the Holiday Inn Tampa Westshore - Airport Area, the Embassy Suites by Hilton Tampa Airport Westshore, the Marriott Tampa Westshore and the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Tampa Westshore Airport. The rest of Westshore is 13 or 14 minutes away. The Tampa Airport Marriott is 15 minutes, and the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay is the furthest at 17 to 18.

The gaps are a few minutes, so the shuttle and the parking deserve more weight than the drive.

Do any Tampa airport hotels have a cruise shuttle?

One. The Holiday Inn Tampa Westshore - Airport Area lists a Port of Tampa transfer at $10 a person in the text of its Park Stay & Go packages. It doesn’t say whether the ride goes both ways or how to book it, so ask the front desk.

The Embassy Suites and the Hilton Tampa Airport Westshore carry Hilton’s Park, Stay & Go offer, which says some Hilton hotels also serve nearby cruise ports. Neither hotel’s own pages confirm a port shuttle. The Hyatt Place Tampa Airport/Westshore tells cruise passengers in its FAQ that it’s near Port Tampa Bay, but lists no shuttle or package.

From the others, it’s a taxi or a rideshare, and the airport transfer guide has the options. A few hotels a little further out run port shuttles, including the Quality Inn Tampa Airport - Cruise Port at $10 a person one way. They’re in the cruise shuttle guide.

Can I park at an airport hotel while I cruise?

Four of the 10 sell a night with parking for a few days.

• Tampa Airport Marriott: Park & Cruise, code PSF, is one night with up to 4 nights’ parking, for stays from May 20 to December 31, 2026. There’s no ride to the port.
• Holiday Inn Tampa Westshore - Airport Area: Park Stay & Go is one night with up to 4 or up to 8 nights’ parking, and extra nights are $8 a day. The port transfer is $10 a person on top.
• Embassy Suites and Hilton Tampa Airport Westshore: Hilton’s Park, Stay & Go, one night with up to 7 nights’ parking and a free airport shuttle.

Otherwise parking is charged by the day or the night, from $15 at the SpringHill Suites, the Renaissance, the AC Hotel and the Holiday Inn to $48 for self-parking at the Tampa Airport Marriott. Outside these packages, none of the 10 publishes a rate for leaving a car for a cruise. The park and cruise guide has hotels elsewhere in Tampa that include up to 14 days’ parking.

Do Tampa airport hotels have a free airport shuttle?

Nine of the 10 list a free one. The Tampa Airport Marriott is inside the terminal, so you won’t need it.

• Hilton Tampa Airport Westshore: 5:00 AM to 11:30 PM.
• Renaissance Tampa International Plaza: 5 AM to 11 PM.
• Embassy Suites and Holiday Inn Tampa Westshore: 6 AM to 10 PM.
• AC Hotel Tampa Airport: on demand every 30 minutes. Call the hotel to request it.
• Marriott Tampa Westshore: on request.
• SpringHill Suites: free, with no hours published.
• Hyatt Place Tampa Airport/Westshore: the hotel arranges an Uber ride rather than running a bus.

The Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay runs an airport shuttle from 6 AM to 11 PM that you call to arrange, and it comes with the hotel’s daily destination fee of $35.

Is it better to stay near the airport or the port?

Stay near the airport if you land late and want to be in bed quickly. In the morning the port is 12 to 17 minutes away, and you’ll need the Holiday Inn Westshore’s transfer, a taxi or a rideshare.

If you land earlier in the day, a hotel near the port saves the morning ride: 12 hotels we checked are within a 25-minute walk of a terminal, the closest 7 minutes.
