Walking and driving times are OpenStreetMap routes from each hotel's address to the terminal building, without traffic. Past a 25-minute walk we give the drive instead. Shuttle, package and parking details are from each hotel's own website, read on October 28, 2026. Room rates change daily, so we don't print them: "Check prices" opens the hotel on Booking.com, which pays us a commission if you book. It doesn't change the order of this list.

In Tampa you can walk from a hotel to the ship. Cruise Terminals 2 and 3 are on Channelside Drive, at 651 and 815, and Cruise Terminal 6 is a few blocks north at 1333 McKay Street. The table lists the 12 hotels we could check within a 25-minute walk of at least one terminal, closest first. Four Marriott-brand hotels in the same radius are missing because marriott.com blocked our checks: the Tampa Marriott Water Street, The Westin Tampa Waterside, Le Méridien Tampa and Aloft Tampa Downtown. They exist. We just couldn’t read their own pages, so we can’t tell you about their shuttles or parking.

The times are OpenStreetMap walking routes at an even pace, from the hotel’s address to the terminal building, measured on October 28, 2026. Add a few minutes if you’re pulling suitcases. The table gives Terminals 3 and 6. Terminal 2 is a little further west on Channelside Drive, and its times are in the text below.

How far is walkable with luggage?

Up to about 10 minutes, most people can roll a suitcase to the ship without thinking about it, and four hotels are that close. The Tampa EDITION and ROOST Tampa are 7 minutes from Terminal 2, and the Hampton Inn and Home2 Suites are 8 minutes from Terminal 6.

The JW Marriott Tampa Water Street and the Embassy Suites Downtown are 12 and 13 minutes from Terminal 2. That’s still a reasonable walk on a cool morning.

The other six are 18 to 21 minutes from their nearest terminal. With bags, and in summer heat, most people will want a ride, which is 3 to 5 minutes by car from any of them without traffic.

Which hotel is closest to Terminals 2 and 3?

The Tampa EDITION, at 500 Channelside Drive, and ROOST Tampa, at 1050 Water Street, are both 7 minutes on foot from Terminal 2, about 0.4 miles, and 9 minutes from Terminal 3. Neither mentions the cruise port, a shuttle or a cruise package on its own website.

  • The Tampa EDITION: overnight valet is $58 plus taxes. The hotel lists daytime valet at $40 and event valet at $60 as well.
  • ROOST Tampa: furnished apartments, sold by the night as well as by the month. ROOST says parking is available for a fee but doesn’t publish the amount.

The JW Marriott Tampa Water Street, at 510 Water Street, is 12 minutes from Terminal 2 and 13 from Terminal 3. Its valet is $55 a day, and the cars go to the Pam Iorio Garage, which the hotel puts half a mile away. The hotel lists no shuttle.

The Embassy Suites by Hilton Tampa Downtown Convention Center, at 513 South Florida Avenue, is 13 minutes from Terminal 2. The hotel gives the distance to the Port of Tampa as 0.50 miles, while our route to the nearest terminal is 0.7 miles. Valet is $55, and there’s no self-parking.

The Hilton Tampa Downtown, at 211 North Tampa Street, is 19 minutes from Terminal 2 and 20 from Terminal 3. It also charges $55 for valet, with no self-parking, and lists no shuttle.

Which hotel is closest to Terminal 6?

The Hampton Inn Tampa Downtown Channel District and Home2 Suites by Hilton Tampa Downtown Channel District share a building at 1155 East Kennedy Boulevard, 8 minutes from Terminal 6 and 11 from Terminal 3. Both say they’re 0.50 miles from the cruise terminal, close to our 0.4 miles to Terminal 6.

  • Hampton Inn: says it’s the closest hotel to Port Tampa Bay and offers a shuttle for cruise travelers. It publishes no price, times or direction, so ask when you book.
  • Home2 Suites: suites with kitchens. Its own pages don’t mention a shuttle.
  • Parking at both: $41.26 a day, self-park, with no valet.

From the EDITION or ROOST, Terminal 6 is 16 to 17 minutes on foot.

Further out, the Hyatt Place and Hyatt House Tampa Downtown, which share a building at 325 North Florida Avenue, are 18 minutes from Terminal 6. Valet is $45 a night, and the garage has a 7-foot clearance. In Ybor City, Hotel Haya is 18 minutes away and the Hampton Inn & Suites Tampa/Ybor City/Downtown 19. Hotel Flor, on North Florida Avenue, is 21 minutes from Terminal 6 and 25 from Terminals 2 and 3.

Do any of these hotels run a shuttle to the ship?

Three of the 12 do.

  • Hampton Inn Tampa Downtown Channel District: offers a shuttle for cruise travelers, with no price or times published.
  • Hampton Inn & Suites Tampa/Ybor City/Downtown: a free local shuttle within three miles, and the hotel names the Port of Tampa among its stops. There’s no published schedule, and the page doesn’t say whether it collects guests at the port after a cruise.
  • Hotel Flor: a round trip to the Port of Tampa comes with its Cruise and Stay package, which also includes a welcome amenity and a cocktail for two. Parking costs extra on that package.

The cruise shuttle guide covers the hotels further out that run one.

Can I leave my car at a walkable hotel while I cruise?

Two of the 12 offer something like it. Hotel Haya sells a Sail and Stay package that lets you leave your car at the hotel while you cruise, with a luggage tag and two drinks. The page doesn’t say how many days it covers or whether the parking costs extra, so ask. The Embassy Suites Downtown lists Hilton’s Park, Stay & Go offer, one night with parking for up to 7 nights. That’s a Hilton offer across its brands, and Hilton says to check with the hotel about cruise ports.

The others charge for parking by the night or the day, from $30 a day at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Ybor City to $58 for overnight valet at the EDITION. The port’s garage at 810 Channelside Drive is across the street from Terminal 3, and the parking guide has its rates. The park and cruise guide compares the hotels that include parking for the whole cruise.

What if I check out before boarding starts?

The port says there is nowhere to store bags at its terminals for early arrivals. It also says the Florida Aquarium, at 701 Channelside Drive next to Terminal 2, will store luggage for free if you buy a discounted admission ticket. Otherwise, ask your hotel whether it will hold your bags until you walk over.

Why isn’t my hotel on the list?

If it’s within a 25-minute walk, most likely we couldn’t read its own website. That’s the case for the four Marriott-brand hotels named at the top. We don’t fill gaps from booking sites or travel blogs.

Hotel Tampa Riverwalk is closed. Its website now points to Hotel Cala, which it says opens in January 2027.

Hotels beyond a 25-minute walk, including those with a cruise shuttle or parking package, are in the full comparison of hotels near the Tampa cruise port.
